Jane’s Walks This Weekend in Kingston- May 2-4

From the Kingston Whig Standard, April 30, 2018

The Jane’s Walks are back in Kingston this upcoming weekend.

“These are more than historical walking tours,” John Grenville, Jane’s Walk Kingston co-ordinator, said in a release. “This is a great way for people to find out more about places they may have wondered about, but never knew who to ask.”

Jane’s Walks are free walking tours of neighbourhoods organized by area associations and historians. The Walks are an international phenomenon started by Jane Jacobs, a journalist, author and activist best known for her influence on urban studies, said the release.

Some neighbourhoods with organized walks include; Barriefield, Inner Harbour, Portsmouth, Sydenham and Williamsville.

“We are all excited to present the tours and the stories they tell to the community, and hope everyone who attends enjoy the varied approach and subjects,” Grenville said. “We look at this as a chance for neighbourhood associations and community groups to work together on the Jane’s Walk Weekend and promote healthy outdoor activity as well.”

They vary in length, historical content, and accessibility. A full list of the Kingston walks, which will be on Saturday and Sunday in the morning and afternoons, and their descriptions can be found at
