SALON Theatre has just opened “In Sir John A’s Footsteps, An Outdoor Theatre Experience” for the summer. In past years, the company has done a traditional walking tour; however, this year for Sir John A. Macdonald’s Bicentennial, the walking portion has been shortened, and a 45 minute play covering the highs and lows of Macdonald’s life has been added. So far, the show has been a huge hit! The theatre has a great selection of guest hosts coming to the event, from authors to academics.
Details about the Show
This year’s show is set in 1901 on the ten-year anniversary of Sir John A. Macdonald’s death. You will follow “SALON Theatre” a turn-of-the-century fictional acting troupe that is mounting Kingston’s first outdoor theatrical show about Sir John A’s life and legacy. The often dysfunctional actors will entertain you with music, comedy, and hijinks as they bring their audience along on a one-of-a-kind experience through the downtown core of Kingston.
The show combines a 15 minute stroll around Kingston’s most interesting historical attractions with a brand new 45 minute performance exploring the life of Canada’s first Prime Minister. This interactive play blends comedy, theatre, and original music you and the kids can sing along to. It’s a unique show that promises to teach you a little and make you smile a lot!
