KFL&A Public Health and the Kingston Coalition for Active Transportation are giving families in the Kingston area a unique way to use active transportation to have fun. On Sunday, May 30, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m., the first ever “Amazing Henderson Active Transportation” event will take place at Henderson Public School. Families are invited to join us for an afternoon of active transportation activities. “This event is a fun way for people to get oriented to the Henderson and Auden Park areas and to increase their use of active transportation,” said Jennifer Hroch, public health nurse with KFL&A Public Health. “Encouraging families to be active together and showing them how easy active transportation can be, right in their own neighbourhoods, are great ways to promote overall health and active living.” All are welcome to join in the fun. There are prizes to be won by taking part in the scavenger hunt, either on foot or by bicycle. As well, people can take their bikes and helmets to test their abilities on the cycling skills course.  Kingston Gets Active will be there running an obstacle course for kids.  To plan how to cycle, walk or take the bus to the event, use the City of Kingston’s trip planning<http://www.cityofkingston.ca/tripplanner> tool. “The event will run rain or shine and promises to be a great afternoon,” said Hroch. “Grab your friends and neighbours and join in the active transportation fun.”
